Throughout the country, we will hold a minute of silence in various provincial capitals, after which we will sing the national anthem.

Since the start of the large-scale invasion, Stadkamer Zwolle has supported the Ukrainian community in Zwolle and the surrounding area in various ways. It is therefore a symbolic place to also hold the cultural activities surrounding the commemoration of February 24, 2022 here.

In collaboration with the embassy of Ukraine in the Netherlands, the foundation ‘Slava i Volya’ organizes the photo exhibition ‘Timeline of war’. Discover the multifaceted life of Ukrainians through these works by Ukrainian photographers - which is filled with perseverance, sorrow, struggle, solidarity, steadfastness and an unyielding urge to survive, to resist and to defend the freedom and just peace of the nation.

Culture vs War” is an artistic study of Ukrainian artists who defend their country and create new meanings of Ukrainian culture. The project “Culture vs War” represents the stories of creators who retain the ability to feel and act courageously despite all the horrors of war.

In various cities in the Netherlands, people are participating in the action to make ‘nets of remembrance’ (сітки пам’яті). In Zwolle, a net will be placed on the Grote Kerkplein on 24 February from 16:00 to 18:00. Passers-by can hang a ribbon with the name of a deceased loved one and in this way we also commemorate the heroes who defended Ukraine and those who gave their lives for the independence of the country.

Karel Onwijn, Dutch historian, will pay attention to the versatility and richness of Ukrainian culture in his lecture. After the lecture there will be an opportunity to ask questions.

Since January 30 of this year, Gertrüd Reinink is the city poet of Zwolle. In her poems, she pays attention to the important moments in the lives of the people of Zwolle.

A family ensemble Nataliia, Dominica and Daniela Slobodianiuk play the famous Ukrainian folk instrument, bandura.
